Vince
Young, Lendale White
I'm still in shock over the Rose Bowl. I knew
Vince Young was good but DAMN! He literally carried the Long Horns
to victory. After that performance, it was no surprise that he was
going pro. His stock can't get any higher than it is right
now. He's going to go in the top 5. Some people believe he will go
number 1. The only problem is that most of those people are Texas fans.
Even though Young arguably had one of the best college performances of
all time, Reggie Bush is still going to be the first pick overall. Bush is too good to pass up on.
I like that fact that Young has improved as a passer, but he has a long way to go to succeed in the NFL. He has the
most upside of anyone in the Draft but also is much riskier than any
other top prospect. Several people say he needs to work on his
mechanics, I'm not one of those people. He needs to be able to play
from under center, and not just from the shotgun. Plus the option offense
doesn't cut it in the NFL so improving as a passer (which he has been
doing) will make sure he doesn't turn out like Michael Vick.
I'm a little surprised that Lendale White
isn't coming back to USC next year. I think if he did, he would easily
be one of the Heisman finalist. Winning the NCAA coveted award would
only help his stock. If I had to guess right now, I would say that
White will probably get drafted by the Cardinals (10th pick) or the
Ravens (13th pick). I say this because players like D‘Brickashaw
Ferguson (OT Virginia), Mario Williams (DE North Carolina State),
Tamba Hali, (DE Penn State) and A.J. Hawk (OLB Ohio State) are too good
to pass up. I just hope White doesn't fall too far down in the draft. Why am I hoping this?
Well as of right now the team I hate the most (THE PATRIOTS) have the 21st pick. If White is still on the board I'm sure the Pats would take him.
Now on to something we all want to talk
about...THE OAKLAND RAIDERS!!!!
I'm glad Norv Turner got the axe. To this day
I'll never know how a head Coach could have Randy Moss, Jerry Porter,
and Doug Gabriel and NOT have a productive offense. The Raiders have a
plethora of offensive threats. So I'm sure Uncle Al will higher another
offensive coordinator. I would much rather have a kick ass defensive
guy like Eric Mangini, but that's just me. I just hope Al Davis
at least interviews defensive minds like that.
Oh by the way, thank you very much NFL for
screwing over my Oakland Raiders again. After the NFL announced that
the Silver and Black won the coin toss (click on
the link to read the Raiders win flip for 6th pick story), they go
back on their word and say that the coin flip never took place (click
the link for the NFL Erroneously Announces Raiders Get Sixth Pick story) and
that it will happen after the Super Bowl. How in the Hell did the
Raiders win a coin flip that "never" happened? It just goes to show
that the NFL will continue to bend over the Raiders until Al Davis is 6
feet deep.
That's all I have to say.
Talk to ya later...
