Lucky number 7

Well the National Football League had the coin toss for the sixth pick in the draft (again!!) and guess what? The San Francisco 49ers won. Gee that's a real shocker. Hey Paul Tagliabue. I still would like to know why the NFL chose to have the coin toss again after the Raiders won the pick (click on the link to read the Raiders win flip for 6th pick story) before the Super Bowl. The NFL claims it was an error (click the link for the NFL Erroneously Announces Raiders Get Sixth Pick story), and the toss never took place. Yea sure. I willing to bet that if the 49ers would of won the toss the first time, a second flip would not have taken place. Any break the Raiders can possibly get seems to usually be taken away by the NFL. I wonder if the National Football League used K-Y Jelly when they bent over Oakland and screwed them.

But I digress....

So the Raiders have the seventh pick in the draft. Let's go over some possible choices.

Oakland could use a better pass rush. Derrick Burgess was a great addition to the team (lead the league in sacks) last season. Adding someone like Mario Williams could possibly put the fear of God into several quarterbacks through out the league. Williams reminds me of Julius Peppers. He has long arms and a quick first step to get around offensive tackles. With the potential this kid has, he could easily be one of the best defensive ends in the league. Williams on one side and Burgess on the other. I think I'm drooling.

Defensive tackle Haloti Ngata is a playmaker that could help the silver and black as well. He is major force in the middle of the defensive line. And his raw strength pushes guards out of way with ease while in the backfield. Ngata is also very quick for someone his size. He is also a very smart player. I really like the fact that he can read play-action passes or where runs are going just as well as anyone at his level. Hell he probably does it better than some lineman in the NFL right now.

But if the Oakland Raiders are willing to take a chance, Vince Young could very well be available. Jay Culter's stock is going through the roof right now. I wouldn't be surprised in the least bit if the Tennessee Titans snatched him up over Young. There are a great deal of rumors floating around about Vince's score on the Wonderlic test. I'm hearing that the he took the test and scored a 6, and then retook it and scored a 16. But once again, that is just a rumor so relax people. Its just a freaking test. If you actually watched Young in college you could see that each year he improved tremendously. And besides, I highly doubt Vince will turn out like Ryan Leaf. Young exhibits great leadership and poise. He shouldn't have any problems getting the respect from his teammates. But if you must know, his score won't be made public until a week after the Combine.

Anyone watching the Raiders last season could see that they needed a QB (a good one) like Shawn Kemp needed condoms. Vince Young has so much potential that its scary. If he is on the board the Raiders should strongly consider picking him. In my opinion he is better than Michael Vick right now. And unlike Vick, Young has shown that he wants to become a better passer. And with the receivers the Raiders have, Young would have the weapons he needs.

The 2006 NFL draft has so much depth that Oakland can still get a stud with their seventh pick. And not even the NFL can stop them.

That's all I have to say.

Talk to ya later...
