With the success of Neflix&#8217;s Daredevil and Jessica Jones, I was salivating at what I believed was nothing short of a glorious manifest destiny for the MCU. It looks like my nerdgasm might not come to pass.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Brazilian entertainment website, <a href=\"http:\/\/super.abril.com.br\/cultura\/conversamos-com-anthony-russo-codiretor-dos-proximos-capitao-america-e-vingadores\" target=\"_blank\">Super Interessante<\/a> spoke with Avengers: Infinity War co-director Anthony Russo, about including the Defenders (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist) in the movies. Russo&#8217;s response seemed disturbing to comic book nerds like myself.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><br \/>\n&#8220;It&#8217;s complicated. When we start to serialize the telling of stories is difficult. You have to have a lot of control and focus on the course of history. The films are controlled by a group led by Kevin Feige, so they function as a unit. Other products, even if they are from Marvel, are controlled by others. Then there is the possibility of a crossover, but is more complicated. It is a smaller version of the problem that exists when thinking that Fox has the rights to certain characters, Sony and others. As storytellers, we only have control over what happens in Marvel movies, but everything is possible, the Spider-Man (which has the right held by Fox) was possible!&#8221; <\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Hey Marvel&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ryanmcbain.com\/flowcheck\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/tumblr_ltuiogMGOC1r317bvo1_500.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4141\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ryanmcbain.com\/flowcheck\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/tumblr_ltuiogMGOC1r317bvo1_500.gif\" alt=\"tumblr_ltuiogMGOC1r317bvo1_500\" width=\"460\" height=\"201\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Marvel worked out a deal to use Spider-Man in the MCU; being able to use properties you actually own, should not be a problem. What&#8217;s the point of having a MCU with everything happening in the same world, if you&#8217;re not going to do a crossover? There have been a plethora of Easter eggs linking the TV shows and the movies; ergo the build up to this is already in place. Why are you teasing us? At the very least the Defenders should have a cameo. Infinity War is a two part movie, screen time shouldn&#8217;t be an issue.<\/p>\n<p>Nothing is official yet, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ibtimes.com\/daredevil-other-marvel-tv-characters-could-be-coming-infinity-war-1992505\" target=\"_blank\">hinted in the past that a TV\/Movie crossover is not out of the question<\/a>. Perhaps Marvel wants to see how popular these Netflix shows (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders) become when all them are released. Whatever happens, the final decision on this is a long ways away.
