  • DX News Bits: ?uestlove, Chi Modu, Mary Jane Hooper

?uestlove explains his anger with Rolling Stone magazine, Hip Hop photographer Chi Modu holds an exhibit with candid photos of some of Hip Hop's greatest, and Mary Jane Hooper's "I've Got What You Need" is re-released.

This month, ?uestlove expressed his disappointment through Twitter upon finding out that Rolling Stone magazine had cut out his portion of a story after the publication asked him to name his top 10 Rap verses.

In a letter to okayplayer.com, he explained why he was disappointed. "I was angered at the fact that I took my only day off per MONTH to do this assignment and I thought I did a quite thorough job at it. Much better job than some of the other contributions that seemed rather last minute and not quite well thought out."

However, ?uestlove shared the top 10 music moments that shaped his life. The list includes Michael Jackson's "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" and Public Enemy's "Rebel Without A Pause." Read the entire list here.

In other news, former director of photography for The Source magazine, Chi Modu, is holding an exhibit at Culturefix on the Lower East Side of New York this month. The exhibit will feature photos of Hip Hop icons including Tupac, Biggie, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, LL Cool J, and many others as they began their music careers.

The exhibit will display candid, personal moments in their lives. Modu's photos have been used by The New York Times, The London Times, and several other publications. The exhibit begins on October 28 and runs through the 30.

Lastly, the music of New Orleans "Funk Diva," Mary Jane Hooper will be remastered and restored from their originals. Her 1969 song, "I've Got What You Need," produced and arranged by Eddie Bo, is her most famed track and collaboration.

"I've Got What You Need" is set for release on vinyl on November 29.
