  • Sale Of Death Row Records Put On Pause, Koch Interested In Buying

The sale of Suge Knight's legendary West Coast label Death Row Records has been put on hold due to a discrepancy regarding the company's assets.

"What's really there for sale, what assets do they have, no one knows for sure," one source told the New York Post.

According to the Post, there are outstanding claims by former Death Row artists Dr. Dre over royalty payments related to his classic solo album, The Chronic, and by Afeni Shakur, the mother of the late Tupac Shakur, over rights to unreleased works by the slain rapper.

Once a music powerhouse, launching the careers of Snoop Dogg, Dre and 2Pac, the independent label filed for bankruptcy in April 2006, listing $137 million in debt and just $4.4 million in assets.

Sources project the label will only go for about $2 million. Of those with interest, sources say publisher Evergreen Copyrights and independent hip-hop label Koch Records are in line to buy.
