Superman-V.com reports that Warner Brothers' long-planned fifth Superman film has shut down production ... again. Word of a Superman shutdown first surfaced in January 2003 and then again that March when Brett Ratner ankled the director's chair and leading man contenders Brendan Fraser and Matthew Bomer were left in the lurch.

"The script is also going to undergo yet more rewrites and these rewrites are said to be MAJOR," says Superman-V.com. Warner Brothers "are also debating whether to move the whole production to Australia."

Several crew members have reportedly already departed. According to Superman-V.com, "Mark Mansbridge (Art Director) has left the project. More worryingly, Duncan Henderson (Producer) is gone and Owen Paterson (Production Designer) may have as well. Word is Paterson has left the production in L.A. and gone home to Australia. We hope to bring you confirmation on Paterson soon. We can tell you that Kym Barrett, who worked with Paterson on The Matrix hasn't gone and is still Costume Designer."

So has Warner Brothers finally taken their ball and gone home after a decade of developing the oft-plagued Superman? Or are they simply rethinking their approach to the project? Time will tell.
