  • PlayStation Store finally reopens after hack

Sony's PlayStation Store was open for business Thursday, marking the last major fix as part of restoring the online gaming network that was down for weeks after being hacked.

The online store is where players on the network buy games and download demos, updates and other content.

"The PlayStation Store is back online and thank you everyone for your patience," Sony posted on its PlayStation blog. "You will notice a huge lineup of new downloadable games, demos, add-on content, themes, avatars and videos."

The PlayStation Network went down on April 20 after what Sony said was a massive data breach. It began coming back on line in mid-May.

Not available on Thursday were the free games and other deals offered by Sony to its players in return for their patience during the downtime.

The so-called "Welcome Back" offer includes two free games from a list that includes "Little Big Planet" and "Killzone Liberation," a weekend of free video rentals and a free month of PlayStation Plus, a premium subscription service offering exclusive titles, discounts and other perks.

"You may have noticed that the content promised as part of the Welcome Back offer is not yet live," the blog post said. "It is currently in the final stages of testing and will be available to download soon; we'll be sure to let you know when."
