  • Prodigy And Lil Wayne Talked Future Collaboration In Prison

This past Wednesday’s (October 26) episode of RapFix Live featured appearances from veteran Queens rappers Mobb Deep and longtime Memphis rhyme-slinger Gangsta Boo. While posted up on the red couch next to Sway, Mobb Deep elaborated on the group’s plans for potential collaborations, with Prodigy revealing that he was in contact with Lil Wayne while they were both incarcerated earlier this year.

Sway prompted the discussion by asking if Mobb Deep had ever reached out to the Young Money megastar in an effort to collaborate. It turns out that Prodigy was way ahead of the game. “Actually we was talking while we were both locked up,” Prodigy said. “We was in communication with each other. He made a little quote for me on my autobiography, on the cover of the book. We supposed to be doing some music in the future.”

When probed about how, exactly, they were able to communicate during their time behind bars, Prodigy declined to reveal that information.

Prodigy was released from a New York State correctional facility back in March, after serving three years for weapons possession. His sentence overlapped with Lil Wayne, who served eight months at New York's Rikers Island facility in 2010.'

Since Prodigy’s release, Mobb Deep have been hard at work on their November EP Black Cocaine, and their upcoming ninth album. The Queensbridge rappers have been seeking out new collaborations with artists such as Curren$y and Jay Electronica. A remake of the classic Mobb Deep track “Hell On Earth” featuring Waka Flocka Flame and French Montana dropped recently.

Could a Mobb Deep and Young Money collabo be on the way soon?
