  • The Game's Weapons Trial Set For Feb, Says LAPD Owes Him $44K

While his trial on weapons charges is scheduled to begin next month, The Game is catching a few breaks in the courtroom with a Los Angeles Judge considering holding the LAPD in contempt for refusing to return money they took from the rapper.

Game, whose real name is Jayceon Taylor, was in court today to learn when his trial on weapons charges will begin when he learned the police may be in trouble with the court as well.

A lawyer for Game claims the Los Angeles Police Department confiscated $44,000 from the rapper during the criminal investigation against him. Despite winning a motion to have the money returned, Game's attorney says the police have refused to release it. The judge has set a hearing for January 22 when he will decide whether the LAPD should be held in contempt for withholding the money.

As SOHH previously reported, the Los Angeles rapper is being accused of making criminal threats, possessing a firearm in a school zone, and exhibiting a firearm in the presence of an officer; as a result of an incident at South L.A.'s Rita Walters Educational Learning Complex on February 24. The Game pled guilty to all charges in September.

The Los Angeles County Superior Court judge has scheduled the trial to start February 4.

In related news, according to SOHH's Left Coast Blog, sources inside Game's camp have revealed that Dr. Dre will be working on his next project - a concept album titled D.O.C.: Diary of Compton, which will chronicle a day in the life of the Compton rapper on the date he is murdered.
