  • Kanye West Resurfaces In Chicago At High School Performance

It's been quite some time since Kanye West has been spotted or made any public appearances, but the rapper returned to the stage for his first live performance this year on Tuesday night (June 8) in Chicago.

According to the Chicago Tribune, West rewarded three Chicago Public Schools for improving grades, behavior and attendance with mini-performances, via the Kanye West Foundation's third annual Stay in School event.

Farragut Career Academy and John Marshall Metropolitan and Percy L. Julian high schools were the three among seven participating schools to earn the appearance from the rap superstar.

It was also Kanye's 33rd birthday.

West appeared in his signature black shades, performing four songs including "Run This Town," "Good Life," "Touch the Sky," and his new single "Power."

He was also joined by fellow Chicago MCs Common and Lupe Fiasco, who opened with "Superstar."

West didn't speak much on stage, aside from spitting his verses. Instead, he let Common address the crowd. "We want to congratulate you on the incredible job you've done in school," said Common. "Whatever you do, be the best at it."

The paper said that the performance at Farragut ended with over 1,600 students, all wearing white Kanye West Foundation t-shirts, serenading West with "Happy Birthday."
