  • Nancy Pelosi: We'll stop blaming Bush when his problems go away

Democrats will keep blaming George W. Bush until the problems from his administration end, according to Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

In an interview with MSNBC, Pelosi said congressional Democrats feel justified in blaming the Bush administration because of the problems it left behind for President Barack Obama.

Asked if there was a statute of limitations on blaming Bush, Pelosi said: "Well, it runs out when the problems go away.

"He brought us to the brink of financial crisis, he brought us to the brink of deep recession, ignoring issues related to climate change," said Pelosi (D-Calif.), who rattled off a number of problems she said Democrats inherited from Bush and are trying to fix.

Republicans have criticized Democrats for playing the Bush blame game, a successful political strategy for the latter party in the 2006 and 2008 elections.

The GOP argues it is time for Obama, in office for nearly 18 months, to take responsibility for some of the country's problems, from the Gulf oil spill to the huge budget deficit. Democrats have been in charge of Congress for nearly three and a half years.

Pelosi's criticism of Bush is routine. In press releases, her office often mentions efforts Democrats have taken to help the economy recover from a recession that began during Bush's presidency, her statements emphasize.

Pelosi and Democrats more recently have pinned blame for the BP oil spill on lapses at the Minerals Management Service (MMS), the regulatory agency in charge of preventing accidents. Democrats argue the Bush administration let MMS be overtaken by people with ties to the oil industry.

The Speaker's strong remarks come as the former Republican president has begun to re-emerge in the public spotlight, defending his policies in the war on terror, promoting his work on earthquake relief in Haiti and establishing his library and foundation.

Pelosi pinned some of the opposition she's facing on a "continuation" of Bush-area policies by way of congressional Republicans, a group that has repeatedly emphasized that it would seek to break with some of its past ways if it returns to power this fall.

"It's a continuation of the Bush policies in the Congress," she said, pointing to the GOP's opposition to healthcare reform, financial regulatory reform and energy and climate legislation. "But they have their roots, and the problems were caused in the Bush administration."

Try that tactic at work sometime for every problem. "Sorry boss, it's my predecessor's fault." This blaming Bush is getting rather redundant.

So when you are at work in a bakery, and a customer comes in complaining that the bread she bought smelled like urine, and your boss asks you what happened, I'm not supposed to say "the guy you fired last week, and the guy you hired me to replace, urinated in the starter dough, and we're making a new batch" - this to you is a totally unacceptable answer?

What a weird world you live in.

Between the illegal $ trillion war and tanking our economy by deregulating mortgage finance, Bush has a good chance of being judged by historians as the worst President we've ever had.

Actually, it's more like this: You buy a bakery and you find there is shiat and piss covering everything. The ovens, the machines, the walls, the floors... just everything. Unbelievably, as it built up over the 8 years the last guy owned the place, 30 or 40 percent of the customers raved about how much they love the taste of their shiat filled donuts and tangy urine bread. Now, as you invest a just a fark ton of money into cleaning it up, those same customers are screaming about how shiatty their donuts are and how suddenly they hate the taste of urine. At the same time they biatch about how long it's taking you to clean up, they complain that the cost has increased because you had to raise the prices to cover the cleanup costs.

Soon, when things are back to a sanitary condition, they'll get all nostalgic for the taste of poo.

Conservatives are coming off as pathetic because they're repeating talking points from politicians- and using the GOP tactics as the basis of their opinions instead of it being the other way around. A Republican could take a shiat on your mother's chest and you'd defend them.

As like now. I know several conservatives (Texan Conservatives) who are more than willing to admit the Bush Administration was less than successful in their endeavors, and that they aren't holding Obama's Admistration up to fixing it all in, literally, a year in a a half. As my one friend said "No offense to your race or anything, but Obama isn't the magical negro. I don't expect him to fix everything in two years and anywho who does is full of shiat, or a politician looking for easy points."

It's completely unreal to think that the Obama Presidency is all to blame, or that Bush deserves no blame. While I personally think a lot of shiat needs to be pushed here and now, looking at the political climate and how past bills were passed, I understand it.

It's like Republicans stall progress, then afterwards complain about the lack of progress.

Go Nancy!! That is exactly correct! As Bush/Cheney ran out of office with their million dollar war chest while the country was left to fall into a deep grand recession and while at the same time, leaving most industries un-regulated, here comes our President to bring hope and change that has been somewhat stalled due to the bottom falling out left and right. Yet, the right continue to spew their propaganda small government mantra and blame Obama. Its not Obama!! That is like someone who moves out of a house with poor foundation, a leaky roof, dirty floors, leaky faucets, and poor insulation and saying "Gee, that guy who now owns the house sure is doing a bad job keeping it up" It is insane. But, I forget, we continue to deal with conservative small thinkers in this country. Nancy Pelosi is the greatest Speaker of all time!
