    Sportsline's Analysis
James created a buzz in his summer league debut, showing off the versatile game that has captured the imagination of anyone that has seen him play. His rookie season isn't likely to be filled with many wins, but the promise for a bright future in Cleveland is certainly a likely prospect. (Tony Mejia)

    Scouting Report
DOB: Dec. 30, 1984. Top pick in the draft who will go to his hometown Cavaliers. The most celebrated high school basketball player in history. Brought the game to a new level of exposure at that level appearing in nationally televised games. Already made impact as hundreds of season-ticket packages were sold hours after NBA draft lottery. Has been heralded as a once-in-a-generation player since his sophomore year. As a junior, appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated dubbed "The Chosen One". Has won every national player of the year award possible the last two years. The only three-time winner of Ohio's Mr. Basketball award. Led team to mythical national title as a senior. Was suspended for one game for accepting throwback jerseys from local apparel store. Smooth, athletic and plays with flair. At just 18 years old, has shown tremendous composure having been thrust into the national spotlight. Compared to Magic Johnson with his court vision and passing skills, yet also has the speed to blow by people and the athleticism to play high above the rim. Averaged 30.4 points, 9.7 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 2.9 steals as a senior and was selected the MVP in all three of his postseason All-Star games. His biggest problem may be living up to the hype. Has an NBA body despite his age. Needs to develop his outside shot and free-throw shooting and will have to adjust to the ultimate level of competition, but a can't-miss star in the making. Already signed $90-million endorsement deal with Nike.

Carmelo is going to win rookie of the year!

Carmelo is going to win rookie of the year! He is just more polished at this point. I am not saying he should have went first in the draft but it will take more time to develope James who has never played against grown men in for a whole season.

^^^ Yeah I agree, LeBron will probably be very very good, but Anthony is taking the rookie of the year spot this season...He has more experience and LeBron never played college let alone with grown men.
