  • What You Didn't See On Smackdown

For those of you that are interested, two segments were cut out of the final version of Smackdown this week. Here is a recap of those segments, a backstage vignette and a match, which were seen by those live at the arena, but were cut out of tonight's broadcast of Smackdown.

Backstage, the APA, Rikishi and Scotty 2 Hotty were drinking beer and looking at the Sable & Torrie issue of Playboy. Bradshaw toasted Rikishi & Scotty on winning the tag titles, then asked about getting a title match. Scotty said they don't make the matches, but they have no problem putting the belts on the line against the APA. Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin walked in, saying they wanted the title shot, and reminded the APA that they were the winners at No Way Out. The APA tossed Haas & Benjamin from their office, then had a staredown with Rikishi & Scotty.

Billy Gunn vs. Yoshihiro Tajiri, with Akio & Sakoda. After a brief exchange of holds, Gunn punched Tajiri and hit a delayed vertical suplex for a one count. Gunn called for the Fameasser, but he was distracted by Akio, allowing Tajiri to kick Gunn's leg out from under him. Tajiri continued to kick at Gunn's left leg, and applied a half crab. Tajiri hit a Dragon Screw leg whip, and Gunn fell to the floor. Tajiri distracted the referee, allowing Akio & Sakoda to hit Gunn with a double kick. Back in the ring, Tajiri continued to work on Gunn's leg, but Gunn managed to monkey flip him. Gunn dodged some kicks and hit a few right hands, then got a two count with a clothesline. Tajiri went for a cross bodyblock, but Gunn caught him and hit the One and Only (swinging side slam) for a two count. Tajiri came back with a kick to the body, and went for the kick to the head, but Gunn ducked it and hit a short bulldog. Sakoda then distracted Gunn, allowing Tajiri to kick his leg out again. Gunn fell onto the ropes, and Akio kicked him in the head from the floor. Gunn fell backwards into the ring, and Tajiri hit the kick to the head for the three count at the five minute mark. Winner: Yoshihiro Tajiri. Post-match, Tajiri was trying not to laugh over putting one over on Gunn. Gunn was bleeding from the forehead.
