  • Big Backstage Incident During SmackDown! Talent Meeting

The big topic at the SmackDown! tapings this past Tuesday was the meeting that took place earlier in the day. As we have been telling you, WWE has been holding meetings before RAW and SmackDown! on a weekly basis. Last week at the tapings, Jim Ross and Vince McMahon (the leaders of the meetings) were absent leaving Johnny "Ace" Laurinaitis in charge.

Laurinaitis started off talking about an incident that happened on the first flight of the last week’s long and brutal South Africa trip. It happened on the flight from Kansas City to Atlanta immediately following the SmackDown! tapings.

Johnny started "getting tough" with the guys and told them that they needed to calm down and concentrate more on their job rather than joking and goofing off. The main problem was simply Bradshaw getting a few cold ones in him and becoming a little bit loud. As Johnny continued to talk, The Big Show stepped up and challenged him.

'Show asked how the company can expect the talent to sit through a session in which the man who is second in command for talent relations doesn't even thank the talent for the brutal tour, and instead chastises them for something that wasn’t really a big deal. Show felt that if the office had a problem with someone then they should take it up with that individual and not the entire roster. Many people felt there may have been some favoritism because Bradshaw is tight with the office and was the person in question at the meeting. His name was never specifically mentioned.

There was another point in the meeting where Kurt Angle stepped up but when Johnny started to give him an answer he stated that he "just wished everyone could be more professional".
